This event on Advancing Rights-Based Digital Transformation, coorganized by the United Nations Developpement Programme and the Geneva Human Rights Hub features a presentation of UNDP’s new tool - the Digital Rights Dashboard and its accompanying Pilot Country Insights Report.

As digital technologies continue to reshape societies at an unprecedented pace, they present opportunities to advance human rights, while also posing risks such as surveillance, censorship, and digital exclusion. The Digital Rights Dashboard is designed to support countries in promoting rights-based digital development worldwide. It assesses how countries uphold four fundamental digital rights: freedom of expression and assembly, equality and non-discrimination, and the right to privacy – reaffirming that human rights apply equally online and offline.

This event will introduce the Digital Rights Dashboard and present key findings from pilot analyses conducted across five contexts: Colombia, Lebanon, Mauritania, North Macedonia, and Samoa. The discussion will highlight recommendations for strengthening digital rights within national digital transformation efforts, offering valuable insights and a forward-looking framework for inclusive and rights-based digital development.
